Re: 2015 Grand National
haha

I would also put the third Monbeg Dude in the same bracket. Held up with Cause of Causes giving the horse very little chance of winning. He made the move quicker than CoC and stayed on well into third.

Like I said before it was like riding the horses to get round and not to win the race.

Many Clouds took the shortest route round and was prominent throughout the race. I understand not all horses can take the shortest route but the horses at the rear needed to try and get into contention sooner rather than later. Or at least try and do that.

I had rather CoC pulled up not going the gallop than the dogshite ride Carberry gave him.

That's the one.

Re: 2015 Grand National
I've seen the race twice and out of the 30 horses that start at the back, only a few ever get into it (I appreciate that 15 of them are donkeys) and the horses who all finish in the places are always there or there about's.

When you've seen as many horse races as us, you can call the winner half a mile out 95% of the time by how it's travelling and the jockeys body language.

Whoever was on Al Co blatantly thought he had the race won, but his horse had other ideas and Many Clouds was always travelling.

Re: 2015 Grand National
You felt that hardly any horses got into the race and it wasn't even a race i nthe end as you could see that Many Clouds had it won a fair way out.

Did you watch the race or the last 5 seconds?? You was watching the Cricket wasn't you??

I never bet on it and have no idea what jockeys were on which horse other than McCoy and the winner.

The missus backed Rocky's Creek (old cat's name) and whoever was on that took it so wide it must have run 2 furlongs further than anything else the poor bugger.

She got better value out of her other runner Oscar, which I'm sure must have been the dentist due to the colours and I thought he gave it a very good ride actually. Aintree is definitely his strongest course.

Re: 2015 Grand National
Boring?? I thought it was a cracker... 2nd fastest national since Mr Frisk.... coming to the last three horses in with a real shout... I thought it was quite a magnificent preformance from Many Clouds... backed him in the Hennessey and teh Bet Bright when he had conditions and weights on his side... did not give him a hope at Aintree... thought he was weighted out of it and conditions would not suit... had run like a drain in the CGC and then goes and does that... even Oliver S' never gave him a prayer... was a maginificent preformance by both best and man and was one of the best nationals I can remember

Re: 2015 Grand National
Oh it was as boring a race as I've ever seen Ex, but as Many Clouds proved, every horse can have it's day and cause a mini upset.

Grumpster 12:48 Mon Apr 13
Re: 2015 Grand National
Think they're generally only bullish when they do believe they have a chance Marston, as I've seen both trainers, owners and jockeys happily state before that they have little chance in races unless the others under perform.

If Nicholls, Henderson or Mullins have ever said they rate a horse in any race, then it can be wise to listen.

Re: 2015 Grand National
Grumps, to be fair the fences have changed, and the nature of the race, so a lot of the things you could rely on in past years have gone out the window.

Re: 2015 Grand National
But I thought everyone on here said that the National wasn't a lottery anymore and there would be no shocks?

Had completely forgotten that Leighton was interviewed on Radio 2 the other morning and he told the sports reporter that he thought Many Clouds had a cracking chance.

No one listened obviously.
